Dedication of Marker for Robert Toombs

toombsDEDICATION OF HISTORICAL MARKER TO COMMEMORATE THE ESCAPE OF GEORGIA’S ROBERT TOOMBS FROM THE UNION ARMY      

An historical marker to commemorate Robert Toombs escape from the Union Army will be dedicated at Riverside Plantation Home, on April 13,  at 2 .pm.  There will be a program for the unveiling.  Mr. Lee Campbell will be our speaker and has portrayed Robert Toombs for 16 years. He is from Washington, GA.

The SCV Camp 935 will help conduct, Honor Guard, Volley etc.

Please circulate the word about the marker; the Prather family will be in
attendance and Mrs Prather still lives in the home.

J.J. Prather was Major of 5th Ga. Militia raised in Habersham Co. (now
Stephens) and is buried under CSA marker in the yard (family cemetery).
